Hardox®
Abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered steel manufactured by SSAB, used for high-wear applications.
Hardox® is an abrasion-resistant steel manufactured by Swedish steelmaker SSAB. Available in grades from 400 to 600 HBW (Brinell hardness), Hardox® combines hardness with toughness and weldability.
In excavator attachments, Hardox® is used for wear plates, cutting edges, and high-impact areas. The most common grades are:
- Hardox® 400: General-purpose wear resistance (400 HBW)
- Hardox® 450: Higher wear resistance than 400 (450 HBW)
- Hardox® 500: Wear resistance for quarry and mining (500 HBW)
- Hardox® HiTuf: Grade for impact loading, with wear resistance
